Thank a Veteran
I wanted to go to pray for a veteran today, and since I don't have anyone in my family who served, I went to the cemetery. I wandered for an hour, and lurked a bit with my camera. I felt wholly inadequate, completely unable to depict a fitting image that would convey my thanks. How does one convey a lifetime of freedom? Freedom to pursue my thoughts and desires, to speak my mind, to vote (remember the Iraqi's triumphantly holding their purple stained index fingers?), to occupy my day with stresses that the majority of the world will never have the luxury to stress over (Have to be home in time to blip!!!).
So I prayed. My wandering ended at the memorial for the Spanish American War veterans. In reviewing that 4 month war, I am hard pressed to think how that conflict helped me be where I am today, but that is not my place, nor is that the point.
Thank you for each and every veteran who gave of themselves. I wouldn't have this life without that selfless gift. God Bless.
