Little Monkey

We took our little monkeys to Drusilla's Park & Zoo today, having exchanged our Tesco vouchers for vouchers towards the entrance fee which is much better value.  I only had £6 to spend in Tesco, but by exchanging them I had £18 for Drusilla's and Rach exchanged hers and got £16.  It's not a cheap day out at almost £20 per person including children over 2 years.  As Violet is only just over 2 we were very naughty and said she was under two and just paid for Scarlett. That said, it's a great day out as they have lots of animals as well as a mini theme park including Hello Kitty's Secret Garden.

We went to see the animals first and enjoyed seeing the monkeys, some of which had babies.  It was quite difficult to get photos as they were behind glass, but the sunlight was shining through the mesh roof onto this little cotton top tamarin so it was lit up nicely and somehow I managed to avoid any reflections on the glass.

Scarlett and I went into the bat house and saw fruit bats flying which was amazing to see, and then when we came out it was into an enclosure where there was a sloth in a tree.  I've never seen one before and I messaged Rach to let her know and she came in to see it.  I got a couple of photos but couldn't see it's face as it was climbing through the tree, but then it moved onto the wire fencing and was very high up but would have made a great shot as it was against the blue sky and not blocked by any trees - however, I leant backwards so I could aim upwards and completely lost my balance and fell backwards on my bum into a bush!  It was very funny, but I lost my shot and the sloth disappeared into his little house.

After we'd seen all the animals, we had a picnic lunch and then took the girls on the little train that goes round the park, followed by the rides.  We all had a great day, but were very tired when we got home and Alan and I had Chrissy's 60th birthday meal to get ready for.

We met Chrissy and her family at the White Horse in Rottingdean for pre-dinner drinks, and then we headed to Frank's French restaurant in Rottingdean where Alison & Tony were already waiting for us and Barbs arrived just after.  It was a lovely evening with friends to celebrate a lovely lady's special birthday.
