Skip licking

My husband called me a 'skip licker' this evening.  I had the task of doing a run to the local recycling place whilst he did bed time.  I came back with a few things that I couldn't face throwing away (despite having been the one to put them in the 'to go' pile), plus a couple of toys that I had rescued from the huge skips - they were within touching distance, so I grabbed them.  A good dose of bleach this evening and they will be all ready to play with tomorrow, which is perfect timing as it is the youngest's birthday tomorrow, so some free toys for the eldest will work a treat as he is very upset that it isn't his birthday, the concept that everyone has a birthday, not just him hasn't quite hit home

My evening errands included a trip to the supermarket, the check-out lady asked me if I'd had a good day, which made me realise I'd had a lovely day.

Spent the evening in a frenzy of birthday preparations - present wrapping, baked a cake (still needs icing), marinating chicken ready for chicken nuggets to be made tomorrow and made egg custard ready for a trifle. The husband asked who likes trifle in this house, turns out it's probably only me - pays to be the chef sometimes.
