Mad dogs ....

....and English persons go out in the mid-day sun. At least, Ralph and I did today.  With temperatures continuing in the 30ºC+, with only sometimes a cooler sea breeze to blow away the heat, we set off mid morning to walk to the nursing home (1 mile) to collect his Dad who was ready and waiting in the wheel chair.  Then the three of us went down to Clacton beach near the pier, strolled about for an hour, had a glass of lemonade, before taking Frank back to the home (another 2 miles).  Moving on,  another mile and an hour later,  after being marginally refreshed by Asda's air-conditioning and cafe's quorn sausage bap, (and several glasses of ice cold water), we walked to The Range where I bought curtains (that Ralph then carried!!) for the lounge before finally walking home again.  Sliding in through the front door, after four hours of almost continual walking in the sunshine, what was left of me just about made it to the shower.

By 17.00 however, we were sufficiently recovered to stroll down to the sea front - Holland on Sea this time - have a beer in a beach front cafe and then walk to the pub for dinner.  Another 2 miles.

According to my pedometer, we walked 11km, or 8 miles today, mostly in very hot sunshine. I believe there can be no doubt that we are English.
