Resort

Up and out. Taxi to LaGuardia to catch our late morning flight down to Tampa. I was sitting in the front and tried to zone out by looking out the side window as much as possible, the few glimpses out of the windscreen that I did catch were a little on the alarming side as our driver zipped in and out of lanes at high speed. Whilst pointing out various accidents to me along the way - "Look at that! Another one! Probably drunk from last night!"

Straightforward enough from Tampa down to Anna Maria Island on the Gulf coast and the Silver Surf Resort was exactly as we'd remembered it from last year. For 'resort' read 'self-catering motel-style apartments' where we soon made ourselves at home following a supermarket run. And as we enjoyed the combination of swimming in the sea, a picnic and sitting on the beach to watch the sunset over The Gulf Of Mexico, New York seemed a million miles away.
