A sensitive wee soul
The heatwave that’s scorching the rest of the country hasn’t reached us, for which I am truly grateful.
Wee Archie was sick yesterday evening. Sick as - well, the proverbial DOG. Several times, before he went to bed.
We realised it must have been the new wet food JR mixed in with the kibble, which appeared to be mainly shredded chicken. Apparently dogs can become allergic to chicken. In fact, they're delicate wee souls, and need to have a very varied diet. Makes me feel guilty about the horrible big pink sausage meat we got at the meatworks where we lived in NZ. We used to feed it daily without fail to our various dogs over the years. Poor dogs! But... they were pretty healthy - none of these modern day allergies.
This would explain why he scratches a lot, too. We've changed his shampoo, but the scritching continues. So he has a sensitive wee stomach, to add to his other little health concerns. A visit to the vet may be required, but meanwhile, we'll try different foods. Poor JR, living with a couple of invalids.
He's been fine today. He's allowed the boiler man to come in and out without barking at him. And he's been for a big walk to Midmar Paddock to frolic in the lovely long grass. (Photo by JR)
Yes, we have a spanking new boiler. No more sudden cold showers just as you've soaped up! Yay.
