Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Home alone

Took Archie up the hill this morning. It has been a cloudy day, but warm enough. We were off out to accept the offer of a birthday bottle of Prosecco from a well known pizza restaurant. He was staying in the house all by himself this time. He's been spoiled all his life - he hardly ever has to do this. He was fine - lots of chewy treats and his favourite Kong toy that keep him busy.

Actually, we've just realised that he can, in fact, come with us to this restaurant because it has pleasant outdoor seating by the river. Next time, Arch!

Caught up with Zoe's news, and she helped us with the Prosecco. I must say, I really enjoyed the pizza, it was gobbled up in record time - my appetite has returned! I then took the bus back home, while the others went shopping in trendy Stockbridge, including the Market.

I was keen to see how the golf was coming on, and so, for the first time, I listened to sport on Radio Five Live (it not being on the BBC any more). I've often wondered why folk bothered to listen to cricket, or any sport, on the radio - surely you need to see it? But it was actually really good coverage. The commentators whispered into their microphones as the golfers lined up putts (they were quite near and had to be quiet) - akin to Sir David Attenborough sighting an elusive pangolin doing something nobody had filmed before. It was fast changing in the last hour or so. Tiger was in the lead for a while, but I’m sure he’ll be quite pleased with his 'comeback'.

New boiler tomorrow!
