Rather choughed!

Since going to a 'Keeper talk' on choughs at the zoo we wanted to see the succesful re-introduction on the north coast at between Devil's Hole and Sorel Point. We eventually came across a flock of a dozen birds, pecking around in the short turf on the clifftops. Like a slender crow with a red beak and legs, they were exticnt on Jersey by 1900 but with the help of the Zoo where a breeding population was established, they are now back and breeding on Jersey - we saw young being fed. My extra is the best picture I got.

To keep the turf short a herd of 20 primitive Manx Loagthan sheep have been let loose to keep the gorse away and crop the grass. All great news!
