Plumber on a cold felt roof
Bless him. We had a conversation about the use of the summerhouse a couple of nights ago. I wasn't sure if he agreed with my assertion that we weren't making good use of the space that it provided, particularly as it has largely been one of his 'man caves' over the past 4 years. I had suggested that we (he!) remove the wood burning stove as it necessitates flagstones underneath it which cause 1/3 of the floor space to be taken up (because of safe clearance). It also makes the place stink!
I suggested...clearing it out, putting a sofa bed in there with some new carpet, washing the curtains, making it smell nice and putting a little free standing heater in there, so I could retreat when I wanted to read, or when noise from the neighbours meant I couldn't sleep.
So today, he dismantled the stove and removed the chimney.
I do love him for so many reasons and the fact that he just gets on with doing the jobs that need doing is one of those reasons.
For me, I have not been idle. I have spent the afternoon adjusting photos and making amendments to a photobook for Kay and Danny, then 3 hours this evening marking 1 set of class books. Just topped that off with half an hour prepping 1 differentiated worksheet for one of my groups.
Never did get around to opening that bottle of prosecco!
Late night tomorrow night at school - should be back around 9.30pm. Boooooo.
Night peeps - I am off to iron James' uniform then find something that will make me sleep.
