Peace

"He who joyfully marches to music rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice. This disgrace to civilization should be done away with at once. Heroism at command, how violently I hate all this, how despicable and ignoble war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be a part of so base an action. It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder."
~ Albert Einstein

Richard and I took a walk, with the dog, from Putsborough to Woolacombe and back again. Tess was at a birthday party, the teens were late getting up, and the weather was fine.
Richard had his usual coughing fit. They're becoming quite routine when he walks in cold weather now. I really hope the operation on his polyps brings some relief.

Back home, I pulled out the remaining beetroot and lettuce from the veg plot and invented some different dishes to use everything up - even yesterday's green tomatoes - which were actually very nice cooked!

"Peace is not the absence of conflict but the presence of creative alternatives for responding to conflict -- alternatives to passive or aggressive responses, alternatives to violence."
~ Dorothy Thompson
