Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Birthday!

Mostly feeling better today! Just as well, as we were going out to Dine for a birthday lunch. Elizabeth came earlier than usual so that we could go to lunch at midday (the only time we could get). And she brought birthday gifts, including these beautiful flowers!

Haven’t been to Dine for ages, but we loved it last time we were there, so it was an excellent choice. In fact, it rates pretty high on my rating system. Excellent food, service and yes - quiet jazz music! (NO raucous screeching pop songs. Yay!). They even had cushions on request as (per usual) we found that the seats are too low. Top notch.

It was a bit of a struggle, mind you, to finish the bottle of wine, (JR having perhaps over-indulged last night, and me surviving on tea and oatcakes for the past two days) but we managed. Home to have a lie down. Rufus and his mum popped in, bearing gifts.

Archie and Elizabeth had an even longer walk than usual - into town, out of town and round Braidburn Valley, then the Hermitage then back into Stockbridge to meet a friend. We're both zonked out on the sofa this evening, per usual.

Not happy that the Open Golf is now on Sky, not the BBC, so I can’t watch it during the day!
