The accidental finding

Rain!

You can't actually.see it here, but today it rained in Stroud for the first time in five weeks! I was excited in the extreme. I don't have to water the garden tonight.

Spent the day at the indoor market in the Shambles. Sales were good. I'd brought in a charity music quiz sheet, so Ron (bookseller) and Norm (music) and I did it between us. Ron was still texting me after I got home!

In other news, I've got an interview next week for a part time admin job in Stroud. This is unexpected, but flattering. Walking to work would be handy!

I'm back at the housesitting. It's hard living in two houses. My Irish-Catholic-raised conscience reminds me that some people, in fact an increasing number, don't have any houses at all.

Still on the housing theme, in a surprising twist of fate, today I found out that another trader at the market has found his dream home. He and his wife are downsizing. The house is in a village about half an hour's drive from here. When he started to describe the property, I froze. I realised that it's the house that my friend and her family lived in until recently. When their landlady died, the house was put on the market, and they were forced to relocate to nearby Swindon. The house was so popular that it sparked a bidding war. I am delighted for the new owners, but as he said, my friends' loss has been their gain.
