Heinabergsjökul

A day of glacier lagoons.
First up, the much-visited Jökulsárlón, complete with boat ride in amongst the icebergs.
And then in the afternoon a drive down a not-too-rough gravel road to Heinabergslón, where we almost had the place to ourselves. The morning sunshine had given way to low cloud, but somehow it made it more beautiful.
The facts on how far these glaciers have retreated in the past 100 years is very sobering. In a couple of lifetimes they’ll be almost gone altogether.
