Arbanasi Village

This is the little village we stayed in for three days in the Stara Planina mountains.  The weather has since improved and was very hot for the two days we spent in Plovdiv.  We are now in the Rhodopi mountains in the south of the country and the weather is nice and sunny.

On the way to Plovdiv we visited the Shipka Monument church which was built in memory of the Bulgarian volunteers and Russian soldiers who died during the Russo-Turkish War in the 1890s to free Bulgaria from 500  years under the Ottoman yoke.  My two extras show the gilded domes shining in the sun.

Apologies for not commenting or even seeing all your recent blips but this trip is non-stop and there is hardly a spare moment!
