Oldest Pub in Town
The Three Tuns was orginally built back in the 16th Century.. The present building dates back the the late 18th Century Amongst it's famous guests were Oliver Cromwell, William Shakespere and maybe even Henry 8th. It is said to be haunted by a drummer boy down in the dark and dank cellars !!
Sutton Civic Society placed a blue plaque upon the wall stating that William Woodington, a famous painter and sculptor, lived here during the 19th Century. Resposible for the pair of Coade Lions one of which is at Twickenham Rubgby Stadium. The other is at the southern approach to Westminster Bridge, London.
My sons 'banned' me from visiting the pub on certain days.. I didn't have to guess why !!
