Explosions
After dinner we walked to Pier Park and back, expecting to see lots of local fireworks, but there wasn’t much to see. A few groups of excited boys and a couple of girls spraying down their lawn, plants, and trees. In fact, there were two or three groups keeping their garden hoses at hand. That’s a reasonable effort to keep the holiday a little safer.
An ambivalent time at best. I like the family get togethers, chairs lined up to watch the explosions, but what is it we’re celebrating exactly? Hard to be enthused when our country is steadily ruining itself with hate and intolerance.
