Shetland Monkeyflower

A windy day, but warm and sunny all day.  It clouded over this evening. 

I've been working on the museum desk all day, and a really busy morning with a cruise ship in Lerwick. It was quieter in the afternoon.  I got another 6 peat bags from the tonight, and the made good progress at home with building the peat stack.  Feet up for the night now.

I nipped out of town for a walk, and to get away from all the tourists.  The wildflowers are looking great just now, and lots of ditches covered in the Shetland Monkeyflowers.  This flowers have only been in the UK for about 200 years, probably coming from Alaska, and the breed up here in Shetland have already evolved into our own flower.  It was discovered as a new flower last year.  Taken near the Toogs, Quarff.
