They've finally arrived on the river, Dabchick/Little Grebe/Tachybaptus ruficolis.
Autumn is coming to a close, I guess... certainly the grey sky and late afternoon light meant that even with an ISO of 1250 and the aperture wide open, I could only get 100th of a second shutter speed, so apologies for the noise and soft photo.
I liked the brief interaction with the little fellow, though... after noticing me, he lived up to his generic name; Tachybaptus means "swift diver" and a second later he was gone!
