Brighton Races

I was asked to swap shifts today and covered the early morning reception shift rather than my usual late shift, so I was up early and at work for 7.50am.  It was a busy morning and the time flew and was soon 2pm and time for home.

I'd seen that the horse racing was on this afternoon, so I went home a different way so that I could go past the racecourse and there's some free parking right next to the track - I thought it might be busy, but it wasn't, so I parked up and luckily I didn't have to wait long until the horses appeared.    It's a funny course as it's not a complete circuit, so the horses have to come from the paddock, all the way to the end of the track, where they start and then they race all the way back down the hill. As you can see there are great views from up there towards the sea.

There's a public right of way at the side of the track so I could stand right at the barrier to watch, mind you they'd gone past within a couple of minutes!  I didn't stay to watch any other races as I needed to get home for the boys, but I enjoyed seeing them, and now I know how accessible it is, I'll go and watch again.

The temperature is a little cooler today, it was only 29 degrees when I came out of work.  I'm suffering with hay fever though, so today I had an injection at work that works really well and means I don't have to take antihistamines every day.  They don't give this injection on the NHS, and now people have found out about it, we're inundated with new patients.  I've been very congested all morning and felt slightly fuzzy headed, but after an hour or so I could feel everything clearing so fingers crossed it works for the rest of the season.

I'm making a moussaka for dinner tonight so I must go and prepare the dinner as I'm meeting a friend for a drink later. Hope you have a lovely evening!
