Wide Wednesday Wood

Probably not the intended interpretation of "wood" but this is a shot of a Wood ;-)

Slept a bit better last night, increased the speed of our ceiling fan, sacrifaced the louder hum for increased downward draft ;-)

We were up and out by 9.30 this morning, catching the local bus, then the V1 into Manchester. Its a nice way to travel, especially just now, as its air conditioned. We had a little nosy in M&S before heading to a certain little tearoom near the cathedral, yes again, to meet up with our good friends D&I.

We had a nice catch up as we havent seen each other for a good while, then we headed to Gino's Italian in th Corn Exchange. We spent a lovely leisurely couple of hours, eating, drinking and chatting. The food and wine was excellent, as was our rather dishy sardinian waiter ;-)

By the time we went our separate ways it was gone 3, still very hot in the city centre, with the air thick with the acrid smoky smell of burning peat, drifting over from Saddleworth Moor fire! Sadly its still raging, the army has been drafted in now, to help the firefighters.

Hub bought a new pair of holiday sandals whilst we were in the city before we headed back to the bus stop, and sods law, we just missed a bus pulling away as we turned the corner! Only a 15 minute wait........we got home around 6.15pm.

A quick change into more casual clothes, comfy shoes and after a sit down with a cool drink, we decided on a slow walk just around and about......it does feel a little cooller here, with more of a breeze thankfully :-)

I thought this shot of the Wood at the top of our local field might fit, albeit a little tongue in cheek, with Bobsblips wide Wednesday challenge, theme Wood, tagged it anyhow ;-)

Hope all you UK blippers are managing to stay cool somehow :-)

Off to water all the baskets and containers now, I dont mind the cold water splashing my feet and running down my arms when its this warm ;-)
