Lewes Bonfire 2012
A tradition like no other. The Lewes Bonfire is true event in the year & one not to be missed.
30,000 people traveled, trekked & trudged to the small but busy town, togged up to the max to combat the autumn chill. Jen & I & some of our chumleys were just a few of them & what a thrill it was once again.
Due to the parking restrictions imposed by the powers that be in the town & the surrounding area, we parked up a good 3 miles out of town, but not quote knowing that at the time, we blissfully made a bee-line in the crisp night toward the orange glow of Lewes town centre. It really didn't take us that long & we were in the throng & hustle & bustle of it all soon after. As per, the procession was fantastic, the Waterloo bonfire, one of many, was spectacularly huge, & the fireworks stretched the nights sky.
We had a great night & thankfully we did manage to find our friends eventually amongst the mayhem.
To finish, a humorous anecdote for your troubles. An American lady in our immediate vicinity, making her opinions frequently audible, pointed to the Guy, the anti-hero of the day, kneeling down in a cart & asked, 'is that the guy from Pirates of the Caribbean?'
God help us all.
