Meet the Cygnets
We had a good sing this morning ready for next weekend's concert.
Afterwards Eda had her lunch and we took her for a stroll around Coppice Pond, before her nap, so she could meet some of the wildlife.
The first stop was to feed the ducks and six ducklings. They are quite big now but it was a treat to see they were all still there. (Extra). A Coot came across to be fed but it's six youngsters set off and then turned back maybe at a signal from the mother. We could see one of the swans at the top of the Pond so headed to take a closer look.
They soon came nearer but there were only 7 cygnets. We fed them and Eda seemed to really enjoy seeing them. What of the eighth cygnet? We could see what looked like one across the pond so saved a bit of food for it.
It was under an overhung branch with it's head tucked under. It did come out for the feed we had brought but it looked a bit forlorn. Will have to wait and see what happens.
Dad was at the other end of the Pond seeing off the few Canada Geese gathered there and, interestingly, they're was only one of the juvenile swans on view.
Life's always changing at the Pond but I think Eda liked her first visit very much.
