Open Gardens

A relaxing and inspiring day at our village open gardens event.  Around 20 gardens were open to the public for people to enjoy and to raise money for local organisations.

There were cottage gardens over flowing with flowers; tiny little gardens with interesting sculptures, seats, and nooks and crannies; and huge shrub filled gardens in the grounds of big old houses, some with sweeping views across the local river and countryside.

I was rather taken with this cheerful and chilled out eating area in one garden.  The rest of the garden had amazing old exotic trees and shrubs in it.  In extras, a meditation space in another garden which had been designed to be a series of rooms, each with a different character and purpose.  Finally some roses in the most immaculate garden we visited - it was in the grounds of the old Victorian school house and the playground had been transformed into a stunning cottage garden filled with roses, clematis and honey suckle and secluded seating areas.
