Fathers' Day

Thinking of my father today, and as he died when I was fifteen, there are not too many memories to draw on. We did spend a lot of time together. We had similar minds and similar interests and I have always felt his loss. He was a mathematician, hence the slide rule. I have always kept it, but have no idea how to use it. It is resting on a canvas work chair seat, worked by my father in the last year of his life when he was ill with Hodgkin's disease, incurable in those days. The even stitching of canvas work appealed to his mathematical brain. He was just forty when he died.
I owe a lot to the short time we had together.
