The dropped stitch

Tin Kirk

The Tin Kirk, Sellafirth, Yell.

An excellent day reading meters in Yell, accompanied by Stuart. Newly retired he had time to spare, and/or was glad to escape the long list of jobs requiring attention around the croft.

He could direct me to all the necessary addresses whilst also telling stories of folklore, local history and reminiscences from a life spent on Yell. Fascinating places to re-visit on a non-working day.

He has mixed feelings about the kirk, remembering being made to sit and listen to long, dry sermons when he would much rather have been playing in the burn nearby.

Sandra had made delicious fish and tatties for tea. Much enjoyed, before a dash for the ferry back.
