Old Belair church

Belair is an outer suburb of Adelaide. Even though it's reasonably close to the CBD, it's really quite cool in summer, which is why Belair was chosen for the first summer residence of the State Governor. Many other wealthy families had their summer homes up in this area.

This is the original Church of England which was built in 1898, and serviced the small but fairly affluent community of the time. See it in LARGE.
It eventually became too small, and was sold to the local private school, St. Johns Grammar School, and is now used as the chapel for their Junior School which is just across the road. (My only regret was the teacher's cars parked so close. I cropped them out of the photo which takes away from the overall perspective.)

To replace the original old church, the Church of the Holy Innocents built themselves another building, just down the road, which is in use today. Belair is now filled with many small to medium sized homes and is no longer classed as an affluent area! It is a great place to live.
