Fly

From my garden at lunchtime, where my garden fence was covered in these flies, warming themselves in the brilliant early winter sun. The wood was actually quite warm. The flies weren't very reactive, so I was able to move my phone camera quite close. Sorry but I can't put a species name to the fly.
