Beautiful Demoiselle Damselfly

Tuesday 5th June 2018

The unaccompanied day. The four of us set off for Grasmere and Rydal. First stop was the bank of Grasmere, from a side I haven't been down before. It was lovely by the lake. There were loads of damselflies but then this one, with large wings flew passed me. I had to watch it for a while before it settled long enough for me to capture a shot. On research it is a male Beautiful Demoiselle Damselfly. Please view large to see the detail.

After Grasmere we headed for the gardens and tea shop at Rydal Hall, with some photography by the river and in the garden. By mid-afternoon we moved over to the banks of Rydalwater. Another glorious, warm, sunny day - shorts and t-shirt, didn't even pack another layer or raincoat, which is unheard of for our usual time in the Lakes at LPH.

Another enjoyable evening seeing everyone's photos

As I have posted two consecutive damselfly blips you may be wondering whether I've actually done any landscape photography on this landscape workshop, so I've posted one in extras.
