Been ploughing through a To Do list today, and hardly made a dent in it. Around mid-afternoon, I went down to see if there was anything at the feeders worth getting a shot of. Not much around, and the light was pretty poor, but I fired off a couple of shots at the goldfinches on the feeder. I made myself a cup of tea then sat down by the window for a while. All the goldfinches disappeared except one (I can't be sure it was this one), then suddenly, a sparrowhawk swept in and took the little bird from the feeder. It was a breathtaking moment, and one I'd been expecting for some time as we are increasingly seeing sparrowhawks overhead. Not a photo of any great merit, but a tribute to a little bird which met his end today in my garden.
