While we're up in this part of the country, we thought we'd pop up to York as I had never been there before and Lauren hadn't been there for 30 years.
We did the right thing and parked and rode into town. It was as we were on the bus leaving the Designer Outlet park and ride that I realised I'd left my camera in the boot! So I stayed on the bus when the others alighted and finally arrived back in town half an hour or so after. They had only managed to visit H&M and Boots in that time! Alex was already looking bored;)
The weather was also looking as if it may rain at any moment. We walked the Shambles, which is a lovely area of narrow lanes full of little shops, which are mainly aimed at the tourist. I resisted a four-storey second hand bookshop, but L & G fell for it. Alex and I took a quick look around the outside of the Minster but I think made the correct decision not to go inside as the admission is £9 for an adult. They may need the money to pay for the fire-damage repairs, but I'm afraid they won't be getting it from me on principle.
It did indeed rain soon after I took this photo. Drizzle at first, gradually getting heavier. By the time Emma had eaten a pancake we bought for her at the French Crepe stall in the market, it was raining quite steadily and we decided to find the bus stop. It rained all the way back as far as Scunthorpe but by the time we reached the hotel in Lincoln, it was completely dry!
There were lots of photos I could have chosen which didn't involve the Minster, but in the end, it's the main attraction of York, so why not?
