Empty nest syndrome

Bad news. Sarah visited the secret lake today to check on the grebes. No eggs, no chicks, just two disconsolate grebes. Very sad, must maybe they’ll try again this year. No clue as to what went wrong. Doesn’t appear to be human damage. Second heartbreaking year for the grebes - and for us. Sarah who took today’s photos was one blue damsel
