The Thighs Have It
The bug season is hotting up nicely ready for #30DaysWild which starts tomorrow. We saw mating robberflies, scorpionflies, shieldbugs and lots of moths. It's surprising how hairy this swollen-thighed male flower beetle is when viewed with a macro lens.
We heard a commotion over the lake and a pair of herring gulls flew up and landed on the boiler house chimney. One had something in its beak. Unfortunately I had my macro lens on and I can't make out what it was. I strongly suspect that it was a chick together with some nesting material.
