Life in the old dog yet

The good news is that Basil has improved today and the vet wasn’t overly concerned about his kidney levels. As is often the case, the main concern is keeping him comfortable in his dotage and prioritising the benefits and risks. So he starts a new medication tomorrow called Pardale (Paracetamol and Codeine) which will, hopefully, improve his arthritic pain. If it doesn’t do the trick he can have some Prednisolone on top of that and there’s still the option of going back to his Previcox as well. So, one way or another, he should soon be back to where he was before the events of this past weekend. Fingers crossed.

The eagle-eyed among you will have realised that today’s photo isn’t of Basil. It is in fact Tess, one of the cats next door that I’m looking after this week.
