my eyes they cannot lie

Roll With It.

Today we went rollerskating!

The last time I went was in the eighties, at 'Wheelz'. That was a place of dreams and is very glamorous in my memory... but in retrospect I'm pretty sure it was a bit of a dive.

Nipped to Ikea first for hotdogs and chips then joined the queue of excited kids ready to skate their socks off. The girls looking enviously at the children who HAD THEIR OWN BOOTS.

'No Fear' Eve was straight on the rink, speeding round like a demon - she was fab, holding her own and straight in the middle with the big kids.

The obligatory Slushes were drunk.

The obligatory brain freeze followed.

Me and J stuck to the sides for a bit - it was her first time skating and she was understandably cautious. At my age, I was simply worried about breaking my hip.
D coaxed her out for a proper skate after about an hour and she did so well! And she was so chuffed. I think her confidence got a boost today. I was really proud of her for having a go and making such a brilliant effort.

I fell over loads of times but it was good fun and the aches and pains were worth it.

Home, super quick tea before heading to the local bonty. It was a proper wintery night and the woolly hats and gloves made an appearance. Sparklers, toffee apples and fireworks and a lot of 'Ohhhhhh's' and 'Ahhhhhhhh's'. Perfect.

Once the girls were tucked in bed...

Craft, guitar, Wotsits and ROME.
