An unusual event!
Ella and Nathaniel behaved like teenagers today and didn’t get themselves dressed for ages. It was so hot outside they wanted to play in the camper van. Their mum arrived fortified with M and S goodies for all our lunch. She played with the children while I cooked for friends coming round, and left about 4pm to spend the night with sister-in-law as they don’t have stuff in their house yet.
The plan is the 4 of them will stay the week here as it is half-term, by which time the decorators will have done some rooms.
It was lovely to see our friends for the first in in ages, after us being away so long, then having Mr C recovering from the op. Ailie on th3 left was in NZ from Jan till 3 weeks ago bu5 then was climbing hills in Scotland for 2 weeks. It was a lovely warm evening - I blipped this just as the sun left the terrace where we’d had a drink. It is so rare that it is warm enough to be out after 7pm.
I made a cold beetroot, carrot and sweet potato and ginger soup, meatballs in tomato sauce with melted mozzarella on top, and a raspberry bombe - cream, rasp coulis running through it with broken meringue stirred in, then frozen.
