Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

By Carol

November Rose

This rose bush had the title of "Hot Tamale" on the label when we purchased it years ago at the nursery and brought it home to plant. I usually seem to have a difficult time capturing its beauty. I often do much better with the yellow roses, but today, well, I just rather liked this one.

We bathed three pooches this morning and I started to grade more essays when I made the mistake of checking my instructor email and found the thesis statements my students were to submit. These statements are so dreadful. The students have three articles to choose from and they must agree or disagree with one author's main point and then write a persuasive essay. At least 98% of them had not made the agree/disagree thesis statement. So instead of grading their last submitted essay, I tried to assist them through email in making the next essay better, but mostly I found myself frustrated, perturbed, discouraged, and giving-up. They do not read instructions. The majority of the faculty at our campus have been complaining about this throughout the semester. I am experiencing it now first-hand. Ugh! Ergh! and Sheeeeesh!

Well, I know there is no positive power in complaining, so now I will get to doing some grading. This is not the way to spend a Saturday evening, but I do gain an hour this evening because the clocks get set back an hour before we go to bed.

Good night from Southern California.
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
