Smelling the roses
Typically changeable Auckland weather today. Started off on the bicycle to work this morning and the few spots of rain were clearly increasing by the time I was on K Road. So, I left the road and rode on the footpath (permissible as long as one rides slowly) which meant I was protected from the rain by the verandahs. Got all the way along to the corner with Queen Street without getting particularly wet, and then stayed where I was and waited. The torrent of rain began to ease after 5 minutes and shortly thereafter had essentially stopped, and I could continue to work.
Apparently that continued for the rest of the day. Meetings and dealing with queries and problems meant I didn't even look out the windows. Left early enough to collect Young L from school. Started out on foot with my umbrella and within a couple of hundred metres that was up, as once more the sky opened (as the saying goes). Young L had his own umbrella up, and a raincoat, and we walked back in the rain which actually stopped before we were halfway back.
The rain must have incommoded this blackbird which perched on the glass balustrade for a long time, allowing me the opportunity to get a reasonable photo through the glass doors onto the deck.
