Day 6 The outage continues

Well here we are on day 6 and still no power, water or heat.
Making the best of it by spending a few hours at Schooley's Mountain Fire and Rescue, having filled up the water containers. The camaraderie is great here as we are all making the best of the situation. It could have been much, much worse.



It's not so bad since at least we have the gas hob working and a plentiful water supply. Mind you, we need the power back before the car runs out of gas otherwise no water collection...

Local small areas have power as I mentioned yesterday, and a few gas stations are open. However with 3 hour waits for gas it's a bit like the 1970s as we now have mandatory restrictions for he amount of gas we can purchase.




On the lighter side .... well you know I couldn't go more than a day or so without finding some humor in our local neighborhood.



The good news is the mobile/cell phone network is up and running. As long as you can find a way to charge said phones it is good news....



Our mayor is not the smartest guy around as you will shortly see. He is keeping people informed by using twitter etc. { ok if you've got power to use your cell/mobile phone.}



Long Valley Mayor ; It's disgraceful. We still have all our major roads in Long Valley blocked.



'All our major roads ??' Actually we only have 3 roads that cross Long Valley and 1 of them ( happens to be our road as you can see from the blip ! ) is partially blocked.

'10,000 homes ?? ' Actually not that many people live in Long Valley. Maybe he's including absentee voters which mysteriously appear at election time !



As you can see the Mayor is certainly a few French fries short of a Happy Meal.



1. The postal services have now resumed and my new iPhone 5 arrived today .... Great news!

2. It is not charged up .... Not so great news

3. You have to activate it within 7 days of it being shipped .... OK

4. If not the phone company automatically activate it .... this not sound ok

5. It was shipped 7 days ago .... hmm see point #3

6. Tomorrow the new iPhone5 will be activated and the old iPhone , which is fully charged, deactivated .... very bad news

7. So I will have a fully charged but non-operable iPhone 4 .... exceptionally bad news

8. And a new iPhone5 fully operational, but no power .... not even amusing news.

9. Blips may be curtailed until I can get the new iPhone 5 charged and operational .... catastrophic news.



So before I go, just a word about the catering facilities at home with the now almost defrosted freezer.

Breakfast . Defrosted cheesecake with defrosted homemade stewed local plums !

Lunch. Homemade defrosted chop suey with defrosted local sausages

Dinner. see Lunch

Supper. Unidentified meat of some description. Could be mince with peppers and onions. Plus the remains of the cheesecake.
