Huge!!

I had this very unexpected visitor to my moth trap this morning, a Privet hawk moth Sphinx ligustri .
For a few years now I have wondered why I was not catching this beauty, but until today I have never had one in my trap!
I was so pleased to catch this hawk moth as it brings the hawk moth species total for my little garden to 7 wow!
The Privet hawk moth is huge, with a wingspan of 12cm, and is our largest resident Hawk moth, and is distributed in the southern half of the UK where it frequents woodland and suburban habitats and flies in June and July in a single generation.
I am just delighted, another newbie for my garden list!
