Silver eye or Wax Eye as they are also known.
I spent some time this morning trying to capture this tiny bird in flight. Twice I thought I had it - but in each case the image wasn't sharp enough
I had some over-ripe kiwifruit and the silvereyes came in droves to sample it. For those who are familiar with the silvereyes very rapid wing quivering, in the extras is one I managed to catch in action. I am not sure whether it is a warning to others, or excitement, or what else it could symbolise but it is very common with these birds. It is interesting to see that the tail is also involved in the quivering.
