Hail on the Hot Tub
While I was thinking about something hard to photograph for the Tiny Tuesday theme, the storm that we could see in the distance was moving our way. Soon the sky turned black and the lightening and thunder started followed by rain and hail about the size of small grapes. After about 5 minutes the hail stopped but lightening and hard rain continued for 10 more minutes. Then the storm moved on and the sun reappeared....a typical springtime afternoon thunderstorm. I decided the hail was definitely hard so it is my blip today. Many thanks to Riwaka7 for hosting the challenge this month!
I am grateful that the hail was relatively small and short lived. The eastern part of the city had 1inch diameter hail!
News Flash from the Osprey nest....the first chick hatched today! During the storm I watched poor mama doing her best to protect her newborn while she was being battered by rain and hail. As always, she did a great job. Here's a link to the nest camera if you want to see for yourself. Two more eggs will probably hatch in the next few days. :-)
I couldn't resist adding this extra. It is a screenshot from the Osprey camera showing the 12 hour old chick, the remaining two eggs and both parents, dad in the front and mom getting ready to feed the baby. :-))
