Morning cycle on Arthur's Seat

I took an unplanned detour on my cycle to work this morning via Queen's Drive, Arthur's Seat. It wasn't a lovely morning weather-wise. The wind was blowing fairly hard delivering spattered rain to keep me awake.

It was worth it though. November light on days like this can show nature in a state similar to someone answering the door in their jimjams and favourite, moth-eaten t-shirt. It's a 'this is me' light. No pomp, no fussy flowers, not the royal parade of spring or contrasting, melancholy beauty of autumn. It's just nature, tired and needing a winter solstice before starting a new year. Aren't we all.
