After the rain

8.8C. Damp start. Rain mid morning until lunch time, then brightening.

Maeve the Deerhound and I went for our walk after lunch and once it brightened up after the rain. As we approached the church there was a person riding a Scooter towards us and looking rather nervous. I think he or she must have had a moment or two on the mud on the road up by the church. It was easier for walking today though, as the mud is thinning where cars have gone along the road and we could pick our way through it.

In the field Maeve and I walked along close to the bridle path on a small ridge of higher ground to avoid the wettest ground. The water is taking ages to drain away after any rain and some fields have large areas of standing water. It was a bit sploshy to go further into the field to get some pictures of the sky after the rain. Once Maeve's paws are wet she just splashes right through any puddles or standing water!

The tide was a little further out today with some rocks visible The sky was spectacular with the rain clouds receding towards the horizon. The blip is from the point at which we go through the thin dune line to the beach after crossing the railway line. The beach was good for walking today with the sand wet and hard. We found some good pieces of Sea Glass too, the first we have seen for a while.

As we approached the Fishermen's huts I saw two of the men stacking wood carefully on the shore against the dunes. They had doors, and pallets, and all sorts of scrap wood. Then when we had been looking about for blips for a few minutes I looked over and noticed one of them setting up lights on top of some creels. Bonfire for the weekend or Monday I am thinking. I just hope they don't damage the dune grasses too much !

Later it took far too long to decide which picture to blip !
