Riddell House, near Lilliesleaf
Has seen better days! It incorporates older buildings (a 14th century tower house and some 16th Century details) but it has the date 1882 on the front wall, so presumably the most recent parts date from then. In 1943 while it was occupied by the army it burnt down and has been a ruin ever since. Trees were growing through the empty window frames. Here is a bit more about it if you are interested.
There is an extra photo of blossom - I haven't had many blossom blips this year, and I thought this was particularly fine.
Both photos were taken on a walk with J and V, after which we had a large pub lunch in Lilliesleaf. It was an all-you-can eat carvery which was too much of a temptation for me. We were really lucky with the weather - it poured overnight, but we had lots of sun, despite a poor forecast.
