Old Shipyard talk and walk
We joined some other Hanover folks on a walk and talk about several of the many shipyards along the North River. A local resident who lives and own property along the river shared his expertise and artifacts that he and his family have unearthed over the years. I only had my iPhoneX with me and I couldn't get a good shot of the 7ft pit saw blade that they found, probably made in England. It looks broken in the extra photo due to reflections, but is in one piece. Many vessels were constructed in the age of sail along the river, it was a fascinating walk and talk. The rain held off just long enough.
Extras, the 7 ft saw, some ship's nails a couple made of solid copper. Paul Revere of Boston fame was the only coppersmith in the area, so they were probably crafted by him. Also a map of the shipyards.
For the Record,
This day came in cold and rainy. We're now off to a college graduation party.
All hands glad we braved the weather and went on the shipyard walk.
