Abundance
I didn't exactly limp into class this morning and dance out, but I came close. Too much sitting on the train, followed by too much vacuuming when we got home left me feeling stiff, sore and a little grumpy. A lovely woman who is usually in the class, but was observing it this morning came up to me afterward to tell me how strong she thought I was. I went from feeling weak and wimpy to feeling strong and empowered. What a lot one can do by just saying a few positive words to somebody!
Our roses have outdone themselves this year. The garden is absolutely bursting with a multitude of blooms. My picture only shows a few of them but I liked the layered effect of herbs, roses, olive trees and oaks as I shot up the hill.
I was on my way up to pick fava beans which are right at their peak just now. I was struck by the pan of beans which I set down in a wild abundance of little daisy like ground cover which I think is chamomile*. When I'm tempted to complain about the shelling and blanching required to release fava beans from their double pods, I just remind myself to slow down, live in the moment and enjoy the process. It can actually be quite pleasant if one takes the time to appreciate it, and yields a fine result in the form of delicious beans which are only available for about a month.
How often I am in such a hurry to get something done that I don't take time to appreciate the process.
I wonder if I will ever be able to apply this fine zen mind to vacuuming?
