Spitfire Memorial

The only thing left - to my knowledge - of Spitfires being built in Birmingham prior to, and during, the 2nd World is the monument on Spitfire Island in Castle Bromwich,
The Factory and the airfield are long gone making way for a shopping development and a major housing estate.

Reading the history brought many memories of my childhood. Playing amongst the remains of shot down planes, the BIF and so on.
