The Old Forge (Monday 7th May 2018)

A lazy day, pottering in the garden and sitting in the conservatory doorway reading and writing. I took a couple of shots. This one was considerably under-exposed, before I fartnarkled with it, as I had pressed the shutter before the camera had properly woken up - it was that sort of bank holiday. Try doing that with a film camera.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Buddy Guy - Stone Crazy (recorded 1961, Chess Studios, Chicago IL)
This record exemplifies why I love electric Chicago blues, especially the variety that Leonard and Phil Chess recorded at Chess. Junior Wells helps out on blues harp and Otis Spann is on piano. Buddy Guy contributes a new guitar solo after every couple of lines and there are some beautifully understated horn lines throughout its seven and a half minutes. A short version came out on a single in 1962 but this longer stereo mix didn't appear until the album I Was Walkin' Through The Woods in 1970. I have it on a blues compilation but my excuse for including it as my LOTD is that Huey Morgan played it on this day's Radio Two The Blues Show. He has been playing classic blues tracks, all excellent stuff, for the last couple of weeks before Cerys Matthews takes over permanently from Paul Jones next week.
