On the Boardwalk
Furiously sunny with a threat of thunder later, we nipped off to the Etang at Peyriac-de-Mer. In the autumn I believe there are hundreds of flamingo to be seen in this nature reserve made from old salt lakes, but we just saw a few of them in the sky, which was nonetheless quite remarkable.
The walk around the reserve was lovely, partly on boardwalks over masses of green blanket weed and partly on occasionally muddy trails that climbed over the surrounding hills. Brilliant displays of wildflowers we would pay good money for back home in the garden centres. So hot though; even stopping for a rest and a water stop was tiring!
As we returned to Olonzac the sky went black, and then blindingly white, and then very wet. It was a shame, but someone had to get out of the car to get the shopping done... she’s a good wife, I tell you. When finally she strangles me she’ll miss me terribly. ;-)
