On the Platform

I'm still  a day behind, but I had to have one shot only two of many of the diverse characters one meets on the train. There were also two Amish men*, or perhaps Mennonite, one young, one quite a bit older with really bad haircuts. The younger man was gazing raptly out the window of the observation car while his companion kept his nose buried in his writing without ever glancing up. I liked the contrast of these two with the young man sitting behind them with a university tee shirt, baseball cap and headphones. There was a young black man in the dining car in full warriors regalia...with a black do rag over his hair and the biggest, fakest gold necklace. He was either a mega avid fan or a clever put on. A couple got on the train and took the cubbyhole across from us with a toddler. They were trying without success to get him to take a nap on one of the seats...I had to admire the parents for taking on a long train ride with a small child, but I was glad we got off a few stops later.

I loved the quick shot I took of two guys standing on the platform in Reno. The one in the black hat got back on the train, but I never saw the one with the guitar on his back again....

There was no WiFi on the train, which meant that I had to take all my Blipfoto pictures with my phone, and use the phone app to write them up and publish.  Taking pictures from a train is not easy. I noticed them cleaning the windows of the observation car in Denver, but that was after we got off....
